Reality Check Terms of Service

Reality Check is a brand and mobile app operated by Gobitron, LLC. These Terms of Service explain the rules for using Reality Check.

These Terms use "Reality Check," "we," "us," and "our" to refer to Gobitron, LLC as the operator of the Reality Check app and service. These Terms use "you" to refer to the person using Reality Check.

Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accessing Reality Check, or using Reality Check, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Reality Check.

1. Who Can Use Reality Check

Reality Check is intended for users age 13 and older. Reality Check is not directed to children under 13.

If you are under 13, do not use Reality Check. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we may deactivate the account and delete associated information as described in our Privacy Policy.

If you are 13 to 17, use Reality Check only if you are allowed to do so by your parent or guardian and by the laws that apply where you live.

You may use Reality Check only if you can follow these Terms and all applicable laws.

2. What Reality Check Provides

Reality Check is a prediction and reflection tool. It helps users record worries, guesses, predictions, confidence levels, due dates, outcomes, optional stakes, Tiny Steps, Improve Odds actions, and reflection loops so they can compare what they expected with what actually happened.

Reality Check may include:

• private prediction and reflection flows;
• optional AI-assisted classification, wording, action, Tiny Step, stake, or campaign-review suggestions;
• support-circle, friend invite, shared prediction, receipt, and thread features;
• reminders, notifications, and account-support features; and
• controlled alpha, TestFlight, or other pre-release features.

We may change, add, suspend, or remove features over time.

3. What Reality Check Does Not Provide

Reality Check is not:

• therapy, counseling, treatment, or medical care;
• a diagnosis or screening tool;
• crisis care or emergency response;
• medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or professional advice;
• a substitute for a clinician, parent, guardian, teacher, or other trusted adult; or
• a guarantee that anxiety, stress, worry, academic, social, family, or health outcomes will improve.

If you may be in danger, might hurt yourself or someone else, or need urgent help, contact emergency services, a crisis hotline, a parent or guardian, or another trusted adult. Do not rely on Reality Check for emergency support.

4. Accounts And Account Security

You may need an account to use Reality Check. You agree to provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure.

You are responsible for activity that happens through your account, except where the activity occurs because of our failure to use reasonable safeguards. Tell us at support@myrealitycheck.app if you believe your account has been used without permission.

Do not share your account credentials, create accounts for people who are not allowed to use Reality Check, or use another person's account without permission.

5. Your Content

"Your Content" means information you enter, upload, create, submit, share, or send through Reality Check. This can include prediction text, reflection text, outcomes, Tiny Steps, Improve Odds answers, stake terms, support-contact labels, invite information, thread messages, feedback, and support requests.

You are responsible for Your Content and for deciding what to enter or share. Do not enter sensitive details that are not needed to use Reality Check.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You give Reality Check a limited permission to host, store, process, display, share, and otherwise use Your Content as needed to operate Reality Check, provide the features you choose, maintain safety and security, comply with law, and improve the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

For example, if you share a prediction with a support contact, create an invite, send a receipt, or post a thread message, you authorize Reality Check to show the relevant content to the people included in that feature.

6. Sharing, Circles, Invites, And Visibility

Reality Check is private by default unless you choose a sharing path.

If you choose a support or circle sharing path, selected people may be able to see information connected to that prediction, such as prediction text, confidence, due date, stake, action state, outcome, receipt, thread messages, or proposals.

If someone uses an approval-gated support or friend invite link, they must sign in or sign up and confirm that their account name and email address may be shared with you before you approve or decline the connection. They cannot see linked prediction or receipt content from that invite until you approve the connection.

If you create a friend invite, support invite, or receipt share, people who receive the link may be able to see information shown in that invite or shared receipt according to the feature's approval and access rules. Invite and receipt links may be forwarded or opened by someone you did not expect. Do not share links with people you do not want to access that content.

Support-contact labels, relationship tags, or circle roles are not professional verification. A person labeled as a coach, counselor, therapist, teacher, parent, or other relationship type does not receive special professional permissions unless Reality Check separately creates and verifies that role in a future feature.

7. AI Features

Reality Check may use AI service providers to classify predictions, suggest safer wording, generate optional action ideas, suggest Tiny Steps, suggest playful stakes, or support internal campaign-review tooling.

AI suggestions are optional and can be incomplete, inaccurate, irrelevant, or inappropriate for your situation. Review AI-suggested text, actions, stakes, and options before using them. You are not required to use an AI suggestion to save a prediction.

AI features do not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment, crisis guidance, medical advice, or clinical decisions.

8. Stakes And Accountability Actions

Stakes in Reality Check are playful accountability actions. They are meant to make predictions more engaging and easier to revisit.

Stakes are not:

• money, gambling, betting, wagering, escrow, securities, insurance, or cash-value rewards;
• legally enforceable contracts between users;
• punishments, threats, or shaming tools; or
• a guarantee that a user will complete an action or that another user will enforce it.

Do not create, accept, propose, or pressure someone into a stake that is unsafe, illegal, humiliating, financially meaningful, sexually explicit, discriminatory, harassing, coercive, or inappropriate for a teen audience.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse Reality Check. You agree not to:

• use Reality Check for emergencies or crisis response;
• use Reality Check to harass, threaten, shame, exploit, impersonate, or deceive another person;
• upload or share content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, exploitative, invasive of privacy, or harmful to minors;
• encourage self-harm, violence, disordered eating, dangerous behavior, or illegal activity;
• create money, gambling, cash-value, or enforceable wager stakes;
• collect, scrape, expose, or misuse another user's information;
• access or try to access accounts, systems, data, or APIs without permission;
• interfere with Reality Check's operation, security, or availability;
• reverse engineer, copy, resell, or commercially exploit Reality Check except where law gives you a right that these Terms cannot limit; or
• use Reality Check in a way that violates these Terms, our policies, or applicable law.

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts if we believe a user has violated these Terms, created risk for other users, or used Reality Check in a way that could harm the service.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and what choices you have. By using Reality Check, you acknowledge that your information will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

The current Privacy Policy source is privacy-policy.md.

11. Third-Party Services

Reality Check may rely on third-party services, such as app stores, authentication providers, hosting providers, email providers, push notification providers, AI providers, analytics or diagnostics providers if enabled, and device operating systems.

Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.

If you download Reality Check through Apple App Store, TestFlight, Google Play, Expo, or another app platform, your use of that platform is also subject to that platform's rules.

12. Fees And Paid Features

Reality Check does not currently offer paid features, subscriptions, in-app purchases, real-money rewards, or cash-value stakes in the controlled alpha launch scope.

If we add paid features later, we will update these Terms or add supplemental terms before launching those features.

13. Ownership And Limited License

Reality Check, including its software, design, text, graphics, features, brand, and other service materials, is owned by Gobitron, LLC or its licensors.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Reality Check for your own personal, non-commercial use.

These Terms do not give you ownership of Reality Check, our software, our brand, or our service materials.

14. Feedback

If you send feedback, bug reports, ideas, screenshots, suggestions, or other comments about Reality Check, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or payment to you. We may use feedback to improve, test, market, or operate Reality Check.

Do not send feedback that you do not have the right to share.

15. Account Deletion, Suspension, And Termination

You may delete your account in the mobile app under Settings > Account > Delete account. Account deletion is described in more detail in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account or access to Reality Check if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for another user, created security or legal risk, or used Reality Check in a way that could harm users, the service, or Gobitron, LLC.

After account deletion or termination, some sections of these Terms may continue to apply, including sections about ownership, privacy, disclaimers, limits on liability, and responsibility for misuse.

16. Changes To Reality Check Or These Terms

Reality Check may change over time. We may update these Terms when the service, law, or our practices change.

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice as required by law or through a reasonable in-app, website, or email notice. If you continue to use Reality Check after updated Terms take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

17. Disclaimers

Reality Check is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gobitron, LLC disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, and reliability.

We do not promise that Reality Check will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, available on every device, or able to prevent harm. We do not promise that predictions, AI suggestions, reminders, notifications, stakes, support contacts, or reflections will be accurate, useful, safe, or appropriate for every situation.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law.

18. Limits On Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gobitron, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, service interruption, device failure, or unauthorized access arising from or related to Reality Check or these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

19. Your Responsibility For Misuse

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses that arise from your misuse of Reality Check, your violation of these Terms, your violation of law, or your violation of another person's rights.
